Settimio Battaglia (1815-1891) was a leading choirmaster, composer and educator in XIX century Italy. He was for many years choirmaster in Saint Mary Major Basilica in Rome. This Kyrie is a very good piece for a concert or a religious gathering outside the liturgy.
