Born in Palermo in 1973, he completed his musical studies at the Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini”
of Palermo, graduating with honors in Piano, Choral Music and Choir, Organ and Organ
Composition, Composition (under the guidance of Maestro Marco Betta) and Conducting (under the
guidance of M ° Carmelo Caruso). He specialized in conducting in Siena, attending the ”
Accademia Chigiana “.
Very active is his concert activity as a soloist at the piano and organ, as an accompanist for
singers and choral groups, chamber ensembles, as a choir director and orchestra director. He
collaborated with prestigious institutions, including: “E.A.O.S.S.” Ente Autonomo Orchestra
Sinfonica Siciliana, Ente Autonomo “Teatro di Messina”, “V. Bellini “and” Accademia delle Belle
Arti “of Palermo,” A. Receipt “conservatory of Trapani. The activity as orchestra director, leaded
him to the USA for directing a very large number of concerts there, directing orchestras and
chamber groups. In September 2004 he directed the orchestra of the Teatro di Messina at the
opening of the fifty-sixth edition of the Prix Italy and the event was televised by Rai 2. He
performed for prestigious associations, between them we remember : “AGIMUS” “Accademia
Musicale Siciliana”, “organ Festival of San Martino delle Scale”, “UCAI”, “Friends of Music”,
“Orchestra Florulli Room”, “Friends of the organ”, “Friends of the work”, “Madrigal” ,
“Entertainment Culture Association”, “Orchestra of Palermo Camera”, “Dante Alighieri Society”,
“Lions Club”, Philharmonic Orchestra “Franco Ferrara”, etc. In October 2005, he particepated in
the Columbus Day celebrations with the delegation of the Province of Palermo, performing at the
theater of “Felician College” of Lodi in the State of New Jersey (USA). Recently he conducted a
series of concerts in Carmel, San Luis Obispo, San Francisco and Napa, in the state of California
(USA).
Very active as an organist, he performed as part of the XLIV and XLV International Festival of
Sacred Music of Monreale, Organ Festival of San Martino delle Scale, the International Organ
Festival of Cava dei Tirreni, Organ Festival of Nations, Organ Festival San Leonardo, organ
Festival PIME of Milan, etc.
By C.E.I., Italian Episcopal Conference, he has been appointed as official organist of the III
Congress of the Churches of Italy, and he has accompanied with the piano the singers during the
Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Pope John Paul II at the Favorita’s stadium; many
times, he has been invited as organist at the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, on the occasion of
national and international religious conferences. He has performed in the presence of Oscar Luigi
Scalfaro and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the Queen of Belgium and all those representatives of world
religions. He composed and directed the musics of the Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI
during his visit to Palermo and the musics performed on the occasion of the beatification of Father
Pino Puglisi.
He has participated, as a soloist and orchestra pianist piano player to the realization of four
discographic production: Harmonies and earth, peace and beauty, I betrayed and Autumn,
recording inedit musics of the Sicilian composer Giovanni Angileri.
Active as a composer, his production ranges in various fields and has an important catalog of his
works. Many of his works are published by Edizioni Carrara in Bergamo, Rugginenti Milan, AISC
Rome, MBA and WEC Palermo, EurArte of Ravenna. Particularly extensive in the national field is
his liturgical and musical production; the liturgical office of the Archdiocese of Palermo frequently
commissioned compositions for the most important celebrations of the year. It was awarded in
Lugano at the First contest for composing new chants in Italian; the Diocese of Milan awarded him
the first prize in the competition is a hymn in honor of St. Gianna Beretta Molla; He won first prize
in the “Sacred Music Hermosura International Competition”, organized by Edizioni OCD of Rome,
the Special Prize at the V Composition Competition Sacred Choral Iconavetere 2010, organized by
the Musical Chapel of the Basilica of Iconavetere Foggia Cathedral, the Second Prize at the
Competition of Sacred Music international Composition David Maria Turoldo in 2011.
In 2013 his composition Ave Verum was published in a very important journal for liturgical
music the Editions Corali.it. He was nominated titular organist and choir director of the Mother
Church of Bagheria and choir director Sancte Joseph, with whom many times, he has recorded for
the discographic house Butterfly Records making a very good music performance. He is a member
of the section of sacred liturgical music Office of the Archdiocese of Palermo and artistic director of
the Music Season in the center, sponsored by the Cathedral Church of Palermo. In 2004 he was
nominated regional delegate of ” Italian Association Santa Cecilia “and Director of the Institute of
Sacred Music Diocesan Secretariat
He holds the post of Master of the Chapel of the Cathedral Church of Palermo. At the same time, he
is engaged in teaching: he is Professor of Theory, Rhythmic and Perception of Music at the
Conservatory “V. Bellini “in Palermo; in the same institution, after teaching in undergraduate
courses of II level, listening and development of auditory perception and mode and Gregorian
chant, he teaches Composition for the liturgy, liturgical singing monodic Choir Directing, Choral
and Semiography composition. From 2013 is professor of Music Theory of the faculty of
Humanities and Philosophy at the University of Palermo.
