Paul M. Weber
Paul M. Weber is a conductor, organist and composer in New Orleans, where he is Interim Organist & Choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church in the historic Garden District. He directs the Trinity Choir, a semi-professional ensemble of 25 musicians that sings for the weekly Choral Eucharist, and has served as a conductor, lecturer and composer at the National Colloquium of the Church Music Association of America. He has also served as a conductor, performer and composer at sacred music conferences throughout the United States.
As a concert organist, Dr. Weber has been heard throughout the United States and in Europe and holds prizes from national and international competitions, including the Erfurt (Germany) International Organ Competition and the Arthur Poister National Organ Competition. Recent performances include concerts at the national conventions of the Organ Historical Society and the Church Music Association of America; at the cathedrals of St. Paul in Pittsburgh, PA and St. Paul, MN; and on the L’Organo concert series at the Piccolo-Spoleto Festival.
His articles on Messiaen, Mozart and Rheinberger have been published in Sacred Music and The American Organist. Previously he was Associate Professor of music at Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio), where he founded the Bachelor of Arts Program in Sacred Music and directed the university ensembles. Dr. Weber holds the Bachelor of Music degree from Lawrence University and the Master of Music, Master of Musical Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Yale University. His organ teachers include Frank Rippl, Wolfgang Rübsam, Martin Jean and Thomas Murray. His composition teachers include Allen Gimbel, Philippe Bodin and Ezra Laderman.
